2009-10-30 Introduction !

Hi there, I am Kent Ohlsson, a 43years old dedicated let's call me "slow easy long runner" from outside of Stockholm. My ambition within this blogg is to share my experiences from over 20years of running, and perhaps to motivate someone out there to kick off into a new life...

What really trigged me to start blogging around running is my latest 1,5 years experience of not beeing injured at all, despite an more than doubbled doze of training durin 2009. All the way since my first marathon in 1988 I have had inflammations, wear outs etc.. from time to time and always walked like old Zeb Maccahan the week after a marathon race.

In fact, the receipt was quite simple, first of all I have "almost" adopted PhD. Jack Daniels philosophy, saying that the main part of the training volume should be low intense (max 80% of HR-max. That is the direct opposite to how I trained before 2008.

I started to continuously add appr. 700mg Magnesium/week, multi C & B as well, always 1-2 glasses of orangejuice & milk per day. Annother crazy thing, I have not been sick at all last 1,5 years, not even caught a cold (as I have always done every autumn since I was born.........)

For me at least this combination above is extremly good. I have increased my total distance/year from about 500km in 2007 & 1000km in 2008. Now I am hedding for the 2000km limit in 2009. For the first time in my life I have managed to run 4 marathons this year (Rome 3,53 Stockholm 4,25 Helsinki 4,04 & Växjö 3,57). Except a strained ancle one week in July I have not had any health or muscle-inflammation problems at all... For me it is allomost unbelievable.

Another motivator as had changed the whole world for me is of course the GPS-watches. With my Garmin forerunner 305 I can go out on new "expiditions" fully "incognito" whenever I want, where ever I am. This i so fantastic, and always in full control of distance & hart rate...

I am now looking for a February marathon in northern Europe (not easy to find.......). Just let me know if you have one to recommend ....

If you are intrested you can follow my training and daily comments on Garmin connect as user "eohlken".

Over & out for today, time for a Haloween-beer or two :-)
