Mr.Yesterday

First of all i must say it is an honour to have been invited as guest writer at Lifetime runners blog, many thanks to the administration. A year ago from now i started to run together with Kent and Marcus, before that i have had a 6 year long involuntary break from running, thats why the boys use to call me Mr.Yesterday. Both Kent and Marcus has really inspired me to start with long distance running again and due to the fact i feel 100% free from the "burn-out" that prevent me from running, it feels very good right now. It has been hard to realize that the shape actually are perishable, no old qualifications or times means anything, it is just to start all over again from zero. Kent and Marcus has been running in eights around me during our routes and it has honestly been hard to accept, not that the boys are in better shape than me, but the fact that i am sevenhundred miles from my old shape.

In a humble way i would also like to explain my signum "trenittonfemtiosju". During our runs it talks a lot about marathon, garmin watches, paces, records etc. of today, modern times. I have introduced historical discussions, what has happened before etc., and once i happened to mention that i run Stockholm Marathon back in 2002 at the time of 3.19.57, after this little coincidence the boys can not really let it go so unintentional i have been Mr.3.19.57.

Back to modern times, many thanks to Marcus and Kent that finally persuaded me to buy a Garmin 305, it gives the training another dimension and it has in fact really gain my training dose.

Also, many thanks to Marcus, the only one of us that can keep a settled pace all the way. This is in fact a key to endurance. Historically i have allways run maximun, every single training run, it may work when you are 20, but not when you are 41.

My primary goal for 2010 is definitely to perform at least one marathon sub 4.00 hours and after my last effort during our long runs i think it is realistic.

My secondary goal for 2010 is to participate in "Lidingöloppet", i did it once, back in 1999, and i want to do it again, it is for shure the best form o running, wood and hills, "top of the lops" if you asks me. I have no intention to beat my record from 1999 (2.28) but if i can manage to go sub 3.00 hours i will be very satisfied.

Next big challenge for me is to create the route of next secret long run and can promise you boys that this route will be a little bit diffrent from the first 2 secret LR:s. The working name for this mission is: "ROUTE OF PURE PAIN"

Due to the fact it is a little bit hard for me to leave historical moments i enclose a picture from the archive, only for Lifetime runners readers, my finish in my first Stockholm Marathon back in 1990 (3.34), check out my pants, adidads hard plastic, they caused me bloody wounds on my legs.

Last thoughts:

- I am really impressed over Kents, my own brothers, (Mr Blog Owner) 2000 km this year, this is amazing and if you have asked me 4 years ago i have said no,no,no, never. He has made great achievments lately and has become terrible strong!

Thank You for reading,

  1. Great to hear, reasonable goals for 2010, but I do believe that Mr Yesterday should benifit a lot of planning something more than "only" Lidingö & Stockholm. One year has twelve month and especially the spring is far to long to just sit there and wait for "Stockholm" as we always have done before. What about Barca or Vällingby or why not Säter ? Växjö next autumn, also a nice one. And sooner or later we will do a real long run, you, me, El Maco and perhaps Claes, Patrick, Mr Mizuno or David. What about Stockholm-Uppsala (80-100km). K./.

  2. Wow. This picture is truelly heroic. Almost 20 years ago. What was your weight back then? 56kg?

    2010
Why not do Vällingby? April 17. I will do Lidingö Ultra May 8 and I think that Vällingby marathon will be a good apetizer and a good long run for the Lidingö Ultra. Come on and join me for Vällingby.

I have still not heard anything regarding the "short Long Run" next week. Are you in or not? Just a 23km run. Would be just perfect for next week!

  3. Another thing. Mr 3:19:57 says that he once happened to mention good old 2002 and Stockholm Marathon where he got the time 3:19:57. Well, exclusively for the Lifetime Runner readers. Mr 3:19:57 hasn't mentioned this time. I would say that during EVERY run the following happens:

0-1.5km standard talk about the weather, how it feels today, trying to keep a nice pace etc.

    1.5-2.0km first mentioning of 2002

2.0-end of run. Mr 3:19:57 talks about the good old days. He talks about his magic 2002 run where he did 3:19:57 and that if it wouldn't have been for that "shit break" during the second lap he would have done 3:15:00. He also talks about his old training camps etc.

This happens every run. Yes, every run. Every single one of them! But I guess that is why we love Mr 3:19:57. He is just a 40 year old man with a 14 year boyish mind. He is really cute!

  5. ok, maybee it has happened twice that i have mentioned the 2002 race but this is nothing compared to El Maco life-long nagging the time befor my G305. After i got one, he was remarkable silent during a couple of runs, but no luck last forever. After he bought his new little baby 310XT, guess what, during our last run he nagging about the little orange beauty over and over again. Every sentence that passed out from his mouth includes some brand new 310XT feature.
