Review: OBH Nordica Shiatsu 6076

Sorry for the lousy layout of this review. below are two pictures, one of the remote control from where you control the massage. Below that a picture of the thing itself (twist your head and look)

Finally it's here. The review of the Shiatsu 6076 back massager with heat. Basically it has four features (all with or without heat)

1. Massage for shoulders

2. Shiatsu massage. It's a Japanese massage technique which means a deep kneading circular massage.

3. Spot massage (to focus the shiatsu massage in one place.

4. Rolling massage. It's like two hands or thumbs working up and down along the spine. It's also a possibility to adjust the widht when you have the rolling massage.
I have now used this three times during the weekend.
In general I don't like massage at all for some strange reason. But when I tested this one at Media Markt a month ago I was really surprised of the quality of the massage. It looks really "cheap" when you look at it. Not something you would buy and definitely not something you would spend 2495 SEK on. After I tried it I understood that this is something that's great to have.
It's amazing how "massageish" this machine does it. It feels almost excactly like real massage. The heat function is also excellent. It simply feels great to take a 15 minutes massage.
I don't know if it is because I run a lot but my back and shoulders are totally hard all the times. After 15 minutes it feels a lot better.
It will be interesting to see what the rest of the family says about it. Normally I have a tendency of saying that all massage that I get is too hard. It simply hurts. Basically the same goes for this machine. It is very close to "this hurts just too much". In some way I guess that is just the way you want these things to be. It should be on the edge of hurting since I guess the effect gets bigger then. I would have wanted a function on the remote control that could change the hardness of the massage but unfortunately that is not available.
All-in-all a great piece of equipment. It is 1000% better than it looks. If you are one of those people who likes to get a massage every now and then - go buy it! Yes, 2495 SEK is a lot of money but something you spend on 5 massages. A good x-mas gift I guess.
Will I use it? Absolutely yes. Probably 4-5 times a week. I haven't tried it just after a running session yet but I think that would be just awsome. 10km running, 15min in the chair and then the shower.
There are other cheaper versions of this one. Those do not have the shoulder function and not the heat function. The should function is just great. My shoulders were stiff as stones today. Yes, it hurts to take that massage but it feels good. So don't be cheap. Go for the good stuff. The Heat function is probably worth 1000 SEK alone. It's a very good combo to get the massage and heat.

  1. Great to hear your feedback from the OBH6076. I absolutely agree that it would be good if you could finetune the massege not to get it to hard.
I also believe that the heating fuction is good, since the effect of a massage will be better if you are warm..... BUT (I know this was not your message here) this massage will never replace a proper stretching program after your training.
Today I read some of my old stretching-info stuff that I got from Napraphats when I was injured back in the 90th. Your PIRIFORMIS, GLUTEUS MEDICUS & QUDRICEPS, they are all shrinking with increased volume of running, so the stretch is always essential.

  2. I totally agree. I actually feel kind of proud of myself regarding the stretching. It has increased 1000% during the last month. Maybe I have to increase even more but it feels so much better.

Soon time for the only run this weekend. The weather totally sucks here now. 0 degrees, rain and windy.

  3. Thanks for the review Marcus, I was hesitating about this or the 6088 model. But now I will definately go for the 6076.
