Body and Mind having a chat

Week 5 = 45 Km (9Km + 23.50 Km + 13.50)
Thursdays Long run was hard for me, so I planned to take it easy the rest of the week and just run shorter distances (10Km or less).

But this sunday I was feeling completely ok, and felt that I actually could have one more long run (18 Km). It was a decision I had to make, listen to my body or listen to my mind?.
The body said: you are strong, go for it.
The mind told me: take it easy, you can get injured. And sure you don´t want to miss Stockholm Marathon because of an injury.

On my way to Stadion I was still hesitating. I felt I could run 18Km without a problem. But was is too much, too fast in one week? Could It be too much for my knees or joints? Could I get burned out by running so much at once? Everyone tells you to listen to your body. I think: sure, I will listen to my body, but I will let it have a chat with my mind first.

I decided to run 14 Km with the 5:00 group from Team Stockholm Marathon. Pace 7min/Km.
It was a good decision to run with them this time. It was an easy run, no pressure on speed. They stop several times and that I didn´t like that so much because I started to freeze. But besides that, it was a nice and calm run. They are also extra good at stretching afterwards, and I really like that.
Here some pics of beautiful Djurgården this morning.
Those people who don´t like to run during the winter, they really miss beautiful landscapes in beautiful Stockholm!!

Now I look forward to a new week. Next sunday I will be in Falun so I have to plan how I will perform my long run. Hope to achieve 50Km at least!

  1. That's very wise. Speedramping is worthless, it just increases the risk of getting injured. And now you are the winner, perfectly prepared for a 50km week, this week or next.... no hurry.
