One race each month = secret of success?

I just realised when I was running today that I like the fact that I have one race each month now (with a break in July). What I like with this is the flow of training. This means for myself in this stage:

Prior to Skövde I didn't do much running during the last 9 days. A complete decrease of running since I wanted to have crazily fresh legs for Skövde.

After Skövde I start to ramp up again. Will try to do 2-3 good distance weeks now (somewhere between 55-75 km per week). 9 days before Vällingby I will start to decrease the distance once again. Then I take another 3 weeks of good distance training. Then I have another week of decreasing distance due to Lidingö Ultra. Etc etc etc. I just love this flow.

The race becomes the longest long run. Then it starts all over again. Month by month. Great!

I will not do Skövde 12 h at the end of August. But I am thinking of this race. Mr Legend. What is your comment?

The track is 2.5km. Max time is 15 hours. Is that possible to do? Are you in for this challenge? 18 september. (thinking about it an hour later...15 hours is too much...12 would be enough. So no Uppsala 100km for me this year...)

  1. I fully agree here, to have a race per month is giving you a good rythm in the different training phases. Right now I most likely run Helsinki again in August and than a reload for Växjö.
