I got acupunkture 5 times and what I felt and believed was going to fix my problem did'nt. My acupunkturist told me that she believed the root cause for my problem was weak core muscles and recommended that I should see someone who could help me with that. So I went to a physiotherapist who put me on daily 11-point core muscle training program for one month in addition to no running during the program. He said that that this would help stabilize my hips and knees and release the tension on my piriformis and many other mucsles connection around my hips. (I'm no longer so sure I actually have/had the Piriformis Syndrome or not or what came first) The program is inspired by Pilates (and adjusted for runners) and is done with the pilates "gym-ball" and own body weight. Instead of running, I was put on rehab-biking and swimming. He also sent me to a Osteapat/Kiropraktor to correct a slight difference in right/left hip rotation. I have been on the program since 02June so next week I hope to do my first run. It has been a "bumpy road" but gosh, I can feel I am getting so much stronger and the tension and irritation is gradually going away. The first 2 weeks I did'nt do that much rehab-biking or swimming and had pain around the hip-joint. I now realize the benefit of rehab-biking because since I started rehab-biking I feel the difference ! Not so fun, but effective, 30-80 minute easy biking.
Am so eager to make the test-run next week. I have spent 1-2 hours every day doing my program while looking at the evening world cup soccer matches :)
My program in short:
11 point strength training - every day the two first weeks and 5 days/week thereafter
11 point stretching - every day
rehab-biking or swimming - every second or third day
whatching the evening game in Soccer World Cup :)
So now I'm crossing my fingers I'm on the right track...and that I can start to post some running reports.

Congratulations man, I believe you are on the right course now. Mr US Coach and El Maco both have some good experience of biking as a part of rehab-programs. Just remember to start up slowly first week with running (especially in your neighbourhood, not so much of flat roads from what I remember, he he).....Then of cousre we're all excited to see the first living picture of your new baby. Have you bought it yet :-) ?
SvaraRaderaThanks pal !
SvaraRaderaNo, I havn't bought it yet - but you know me - I have decided to get one if this project is successful :)
