Stockholm Marathon 2010 - Five in a row

Here I am. Friday evening. 21:18. Totally allergic. My noose is running like the niagra falls. My eyes are itching. The bloody allergy season for me is at the peak now. Normally it peaks 10 days before the marathon but since the marathon is in June now and the allergy season started a little bit later it strikes perfectly for the show tomorrow.

So how about the knee El Maco? Ah - great question. Actually I don't know. I have been riding the bike now during at least three weeks with no problem it all. It can feel "something" in the right knee region but I can't put words to that feeling. Does it hurt? No! But it's not like the left knee.

Will you start tomorrow El Maco? Thats a good question as well. I can't say yes and I can't say no. I actually don't know. I have been preparing for a marathon TODAY. Not during the week. I have been riding the bike far too much this week for a marathon preparation. Last weekend I had a 120km ride and a 18 km run. Not ideal preparation. Anyway. Today I have had two carbo loads and I ate spaghetti for dinner. Those are the potential preparations. Tomorrow we will know more.

I know that all of you out there say NO! I guess I should follow your voice.

  1. Don't do it!

Take a bike ride up to Sigtuna and enjoy the day!

  2. To round of the topic of the week, of course you can go out there today, and I know you are disciplined as few when comes to tempo. But even in slowest of tempos it takes a lot of courage to break early enough if it starts to hurt. You have enough of training to do those 42,2km (of course not in the tempo you want to go), but please don't challange Vätternrundan or other upcoming marathons in 2010. We still have Oslo, Växjö, Åland etc,etc to do....and perhaps another Ultra as well......

So what I try to say, go out there if you like, but DON'T TAKE to much pain. You have non (be happy for that) experience at all of "breaking" a race !!!!

  3. El Maco! I saw your results and it looks very good considering your knee. I hope you felt good, please update us! Itlooks like you where very disciplined about the speed. I know you are very well prepared, your heart must be extremely strong, it is only the knee giving you trouble.
