Vintermarathon 2011. Fredrikshof held this small but very nice arrangement this year at Norra Djurgården in Stockholm. Of course El Maco & Mr Legend was there ! The weather conditions where "tip-top", +10C and and just a light breeze in November, that's fantastic. I didn't have any tactical thoughts at all before this race, just wanted to be out there and hopefully bring a new nice medal home. Already after 5-6km I understood that my tempo was high above normal... I passed 10k on 51,38 (2,5 minutes faster than Oslo), and I guess that was when I decided to just roll on and continue in high tempo as long as I could. It developed into an experiment-marathon for me. I also totally skipped my HR-control, I could easily increase tempo down to 5,0 min/km all the way up to 30km.... Of course I fully realized that last 10k may not be that funny...
With two 7km laps left to go (28km), I was waiting all the time for El Maco to show up but he did not. I thought that he was to wise to follow me between 18-25km, but now was payback-time :-)
Well, out there on my last 10k nothing dramatically happened more that a lihgt-cramp-feeling in the last major hill up to Naturhitoriska museet. I solved it by taking shorter steps for about 500 meters (I spent 58min compared to 57min in Oslo, so all in all this marathon was more of a fun-run this time and took me 3h 44min.
Another thing that is worth a comment is that I from 2011 on eat like "duoble-dinner" the evening before a long-run, and also try to sleep at least 10hours the night before if possible.

Mr Legend. You looked so fast and strong yesterday. As you know I "overtook" you during appr 1k of the race. It was obvious that you were the strong one yesterday. 3:44 is an amazing time! Your second best in your life - right?

Great thanks El Maco ! It was fantastic in many ways, but Lidingö Ultra is doubtless my best performance in 2011. That was a tactical optimum, totally correct dispotion from start to goal.
