First of all, my biggest congratulations to all of you in "team El Maco" Fernando & Paul. You did your very first, Pernilla your 2nd, marathon under these terrible conditions. I am longong to hear all your stories. We must have a nice long run together soon :-)
This, my 15th Stockholm marathon was something very special I must say. Low teperature, that's just fine with me, but this was actually the first time I have ever experienced rain all the way, from the very first meter and all the way until I was back in my car.......
I thought I had everything under control, clothing strategy - like in Skövde this year, my Craft ventair spring jacket, thin gloves & long pants.... but I did one major misstake.
The jacket was perfect, except for the arms. When it rains, sooner or later you get wet, and then the shitty thing starts... I lost my feel in my fingers (both left & right hand). And even worse, out on the second lap I lost my feel allmost up to my elbow on my right hand. I was scared, started to move my arm, did some boxing, I was so disturbed... First when reaching Statshuset my right arm woke up again.
Lessons to learn for me, under these conditions I must wear 100% rain protection, and that goes for my gloves as well. (For example a small plastic bag should have saved me).

I will from now on fully adopt to the "double dinner the day before concept". I had a normal dinner at 18.30 and then another dinner at 22.00 , and that works nicely for me....
Last but not least, El Maco do you know why we never met in the start area...... heheh, I was hiding in a "Baja-maja" for allmost 30minutes (not to avoid you but the rain :-) :-) :-)

Great race Kent! Absolutely amazing. Some comments.
SvaraRaderaPaul didn't run! He sold his start number the day before. Someone else ran instead of him.
Pernilla didn't run. She got ill the day before and gave the start number to Veronika Friden who decided to go for it just 16 hours in advance! Totally amazing achievement from her! I think her longest run before this run was 23km! Now she did 42.2 in 4:06 in terrible conditions!
When it comes to me. I will write a separate posting but I think that the combination of cycling and running kills me. I have spent apps 50 hours on the bike from April 6 and May 20. Last year I didn't cycle anything until after Stockholm Marathon - and I had a great race. So I guess that if I ever want to perform well in STockholm Marathon I should skip Vätternrundan (and I don't want to do that)
Hehehehe, Ok then I need to congrat Veronika and some stranger instead..... :-)
SvaraRaderaI agree, Stockholm is not optimal for you as long as you cycle. But Stockholm is far from the only one.

Congratulations on a fantastic race! You guys are truly cold weather experts to be able to compete so strongly in adverse conditions!
SvaraRaderaMr. Legend, well done!!! Your year over year trend line continues to defy the aging process!
Thanks ! Last time I was down below 3.40 was in 1989. Then I was 23years old, now if you double that you will end up in 2012.... so the conclusion must be, age means nothing. One of my neighbour told me that back in the 1990th there was an old friend of him that did 2.45 at an age of 65..... veteran world champ..... :-)
SvaraRaderaLooking forward to see you soon in Stockholm. The July marathon will for sure not be that cold....
