Hej!
Mr. Legend is planning to go maximum ultra distance in his next event. I on the other hand am going the complete opposite end of the spectrum and will concentrate on 800 meters!
I bumped into a friend the other day who is organizing a track team for "masters". (40 years and over). There is a local club that organizes weekly meets -

My old adage for races was that I would be happy if I can run a time that was double what the fastest guys in the world were doing. Hence, if the world's best marathoner was running 2 hours and 3 minutes, I'd be satisfied with a 4 hour and 6 minute result. I haven''t run 800 meters in a race since high school, but given that the world record is currently 1:41, I am pretty sure I'll be able to be un 3:22. (El Maco gave me a goal of under 3 mins. )
Should be fun! I'll keep you posted!

I would say that 800m is the second worst category of them all (400m is THE worst). It's 110% from the start. Max HR after 50m and then you just increase! But sounds like great fun. Obviously 3:22 is a super boring goal. I would say that you might be able to do sub 3:00. Did you say that you did 2:04 back in highschool!? How on earth was that possible! 2:04 - was that best in class?
SvaraRaderaYes agree, sounds great. I fully agree with El Maco, 400 & 800 meters is very challanging :-) Sub 3 on 800 means below 3.45min/km tempo. (At least for Mr L mission impossible :-)
SvaraRaderaDuring my "Glory Days" of High School track I was weighing in a good 14 KGs less than I do now, but even then, I was at best a middle class runner. (The fastest guys on our team were all sub 2:00 minutes in the 800). Will be interesting to see how slow I have gotten!
