It was great to meet Fernando, Jose Carlos, and El Maco before the start, and so cool to be back in Stockholm!
I did not have record breaking expectations for this run, and I was convinced that I was only going to go for the original 1912 course (40.1 KM's), but peer pressure got the best of me, and I took a left at the stadium to complete the standard 42.2 distance.
Definitely fun to run a lot of the track from the old days (Helenelund, Silverdal, etc.), even though it was much hillier than I remembered!
I don't mind an out and back course, and it was interesting to see all the faster runners heading home! With my slow pace, and starting in the second to last start group, I had a lot of people in front of me! I saw El Maco race by, at what was for me the 14 KM mark, (26 KM for him), and he looked fresh! I expected to see Mr. legend charging hard after his recent successes, but I missed him, as well as Fernando and Jose Carlos.
All told, my leisurely pace and the excellent support along the route made for an enjoyable run and a memorable event!
